There will be days! Oh yes indeed . . .
My niece, Catharine, and her sweet loving Canadian beau, David, are getting married on the 2nd of August. Since the announcement of their engagement, I’ve envisioned throwing a midsummer’s eve wedding shower exclusively for the wedding party. The intention: to give the bride and groom some much needed chill time in advance of their BIG day! Don’t you remember how outrageously frantic and busy you were in the months leading up to your own wedding day!?
The caveat is that I’m one of those dreamers for whom my creations don’t often live up to the imagery in my brain. I usually find one or more reasons to criticize where I came up short or could have done better. I’m in shock THIS time, because I nailed it! (indulge me in bragging. Wooohoooooo!) My husband, Daniel, built the tables according to my rough-sketch plans and verbal brain dump. He nailed the perfect surface height and table sturdiness!! My brother, Catharine’s dad and guest blogger here, provided the turntable with blues & jazz on vinyl. He’s also credited with taking magical photos of the entire evening which allowed me to cook, fuss, decorate, and fuss some more. His wife, Roseann, jumped in and took on the messy task of washing dirty dishes. My sons and nieces were on-the-spot helpers for running glasses, food and water bottles up to the party site. It was a family affair and such an enchanting evening. Perhaps all endeavors motivated by love match up with the dreams in our head.
